I kind of knew this as I have friends in several countries who share their hopes and ideas with me!!!
Do you think they have the well being of the citizens of the United States in their hope for an Obama presidency? Or is it because a weaker America appeals to them?
I have been all over the globe, and I can tell you they are not looking out for American Citizens. That is the last thing they are thinking about.
I've gotta tell you, Someday, I just don't subscribe to the "whole world's out to get us attitude" that says if countries like Japan and Germany and France think this could be a transformative time in our history it must be bad news because they are only interested in seeing us weaker.

I'm not sure why they would think electing Senator Obama President would be transformative. We have had leftist progressives like Jimmy Carter before. The world liked him to. Then they walked all over him. I can only think of one thing Senator Obama brings to the table that they did not, and his supporters deny that he brings it.
So what is this transformation.....exactly?

I can't say about the whole world, but I do have family in Germany who want to see a strong America.
They see Barack Obama as a calm, intellegent leader who respects other cultures and governments.
We have too long(8 years)been seen as "Cowboys" who shoot before we see the "whites of their eyes." The RNC works very hard at making every issue an "us against them" arguement. "If you're not for us, you're against us." The rest of the world knows that they are considered a "them" by Red-Blooded Americans.
Whether it's true or not, my cousins believe that a Pres. Obama will bring sanity back to our Foreign Relations. As the economic meltdown shows, a strong America is important to the entire world. My prayer is that he has a chance to prove this assumption true.
So, yes, I agree with Brian that this is a transformative time in our history. We decide in just a few hours...are we a country of hope or hate.

It has nothing to do with people wanting ill for Americans. It is their own self interest that motivates them.
I really don't care what my relatives in Africa think about who I elect as President.
It would be like electing the Governor of Ohio to please the people in Kentucky.
Let me be clear. I am not voting for John McCain. I am voting against Senator Obama. If Hillary had won the primary, I would have voted for Bob Barr.
I just can't see putting a guy in the White House who couldn't even get a confidential security clearance. That might not be important to you, but it is to me. $ years ago he was a state legislator. Now he should be President? Why? What is on his resume?
Someday - I agree with you. I've been on a lot of places in the world too - and I know for a fact that the many corners of the world want would welcome a weaker America. Leaders of other countries are tired of their citizens wanting to either immigrate, and in many cases escape from their countries to come here. They're tired of us dictating to the rest of the world who can have nuclear weapons. Their tired of our Judeo-Christian values. They are jealous the American Experiment that our fore-fathers died for is a system that works, and provides the freedom for it's people to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. Leaders of other countries see their citizens long for the life that we enjoy here. Many of these leaders are looking forward to an America that doesn't have appear to have an elitiest attitude - which is nothing more than a perception - much like a child (or an adult) who sees what others have and how others live, and immediately assume that their are elitists.

I did not vote for Obama solely to please Africans or because he's black or because he comes from a single mother home or... those things are some of the reasons why he is such an inspiring figure.
You know what's on his resume. The fact that you don't value it the way I do is a subjective call and your choice. I respect that.
